Emley Moor Tractor Pull 2026 brought big engines, trackside excitement and a busy weekend for R & J PA Hire at Bunkers Hill Farm in West Yorkshire. With BTPA Championship action and the unmistakable sound of tractor pulling, it was an event that certainly made itself heard!
Our involvement covered Friday evening, Saturday daytime and evening, and Sunday. We supplied the public address system and two-way radios, supporting both the spectator experience and communication behind the scenes.

Trackside PA for a Demanding Sound Environment
Tractor pulling presents a particular challenge for event sound. Powerful engines create plenty of background noise, while spectators need to follow commentary and hear announcements across an outdoor viewing area.
At Emley Moor, our role was to provide the PA system supporting those spoken updates. Commentary helps audiences understand what is happening on the track, while event announcements keep visitors informed as the programme progresses.
Good outdoor sound involves more than simply turning up the volume. Speaker positioning, coverage and speech clarity all matter, especially when the audience is spread along a track. The aim is to make announcements useful and understandable within a demanding environment.
Our outdoor PA systems can be arranged to suit different event layouts, from a main arena to a longer spectator area. Discussing the site and programme beforehand helps identify where sound coverage is needed and how the system will be used.
Two-Way Radios to Keep Organisers Connected
Alongside the PA equipment, we supplied two-way radios for the Emley Moor Tractor Pull. While the public address system serves the audience, radios provide a separate way for the event team to communicate.
At a busy outdoor event, organisers may be working in different areas and need to pass information quickly. A radio allows a short update or request to reach colleagues without someone having to walk across the site or make several individual phone calls.
Typical uses include coordinating staff, requesting assistance and passing operational updates. Having a shared communication channel is particularly helpful when activity is taking place over a large area.
Our two-way radio hire service is available for agricultural shows, motorsport events, sporting fixtures and community occasions. Radio quantities can be discussed alongside PA requirements so the equipment matches the people and areas involved.
From Friday Evening to Sunday
This was a busy booking, with our work taking us through Friday evening, Saturday day and night, and Sunday. Events spanning several sessions require preparation and attention throughout, with equipment supporting the programme as the weekend unfolds.
There is also something special about seeing an outdoor event change from daylight to evening. Tractor pulling under the lights has a different atmosphere, and it gave us another side of the weekend to capture for the video.
For R & J PA Hire, being involved means seeing both the spectacle on the track and the work that goes into bringing an event together. Organisers, volunteers and competitors each have their part to play, with sound and communications supporting that wider effort.
