🎙 A Whirlwind Week for R & J PA Hire: From Steam Rallies to Community Charity Events
It’s been a non-stop week for R & J PA Hire as we’ve criss-crossed East Yorkshire, bringing professional sound and communication systems to an amazing range of events.
We started off strong on Wednesday evening by providing sound support for the Howden 10K Run, before heading straight into a packed weekend schedule that took us from vintage steam engines to emergency services shows, equestrian competitions, and even a charity celebration for Dove House Hospice.
Wherever we went, our goal was the same: to deliver clear, reliable audio that keeps every event running smoothly.

🚂 Driffield Steam Rally — Celebrating Heritage in Style
First stop was the Driffield Steam Rally — one of East Yorkshire’s most iconic annual events. Spread across the Driffield Showground, this incredible show draws thousands of visitors with its lineup of working steam engines, vintage tractors, classic cars, fairground organs, and heritage machinery displays.
We supplied a full site-wide PA system and one of our commentary units to act as the central control hub. From safety announcements to prize presentations, every word was heard clearly across the rally fields. With so many visitors, exhibitors, and moving displays, having professional audio coverage is essential to keep the event running safely and on schedule — and we were proud to play our part.

🚨 Blue Light Weekend — Supporting Local Heroes in Withernsea
Next, we headed to the coast to support the Blue Light Weekend in Withernsea. This fantastic event celebrates and showcases the vital work of our emergency services, including Humberside Police, Fire & Rescue, RNLI, Coastguard, and Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
We provided distributed speaker systems, tie-clip radio microphones, and battery-powered PA setups throughout the seafront area, ensuring that live demos, public safety talks, and stage announcements could be heard by everyone attending.
It’s always a privilege to work alongside the incredible people who keep our communities safe, and we were honoured to support them again this year with crystal-clear audio coverage all weekend.

🐎 Horse Event in Cottingham — Keeping Things on Track
On Sunday, our team was in Cottingham supporting a busy horse event and show jumping competition. For equestrian events, timing and clarity are everything — judges, riders, and spectators all rely on accurate commentary and seamless audio updates throughout the day.
We deployed a portable PA system with wireless radio microphones and a small commentary unit to manage results announcements, ring calls, and background music between classes.
Our robust outdoor setups are ideal for this type of event, ensuring that the show can carry on smoothly even in wide open spaces.

💛 Dove House Hospice Event — A Special Cause
We rounded off our weekend by supplying a compact sound unit for a local Dove House Hospice fundraising event. It might have been a smaller setup, but the cause couldn’t be bigger.
It was wonderful to see the community coming together to raise money and awareness for the incredible work done by Dove House. We were proud to contribute our equipment and support to help make the day even more memorable.
